No-GI Grappling

No-Gi Jiu jitsu

There are two main branches of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Gi and No-Gi. Gi Jiu Jitsu is grappling while using the traditional Gi and  allows you to grab the clothing of your opponent. However, No-Gi BJJ is grappling without the traditional uniform and instead, practitioners would wear shorts and a rash guard. In No-Gi grappling you cannot grab your opponent’s clothing.

No-Gi training is considered to be much faster and more high-paced than the Gi. This is because in No-Gi there aren’t as many ways to hold or stall an opponent while rolling.

High level rule sets tend to allow a greater range of submissions and rules. With the Pro Jiu Jitsu circuit being dominated by No Gi events. As well as Jiu jitsu, No Gi also takes inspiration from other submission grappling arts such as Catch Wrestling and Sambo.

What equipment do I need?

You will need to weak shorts that do not have any zips, buttons or other sharp parts plus a t-shirt or rash guard. We would recommend a mouth guard also.

Do I need to pre-book?

Yes. Due to Covid restrictions all classes must be pre-booked.
